Mastering Wig Wearing: A Comprehensive Guide for Beginners
Choosing Your Perfect Fit
Ensuring utmost comfort while wearing a wig begins with selecting the right size.
Determine Your Size
Discover your perfect wig size and pinpoint your placement on the Ellen Wille sizing chart with just three simple steps. Grab a fabric measuring tape, pen, paper, and if needed, a wig cap for securing your natural hair under the wig.
Step 1: Measure Your Head Circumference
Begin by using a fabric measuring tape to determine the circumference of your head. Start at your front hairline, wrap the tape around the back of your head, just above your neck's hairline. Ensure a snug fit without being too tight.
Step 2: Measure Your Ear-to-Ear
From the front hairline, measure 7" inches back to establish the top of your head point. Then, position the measuring tape horizontally from this point and measure the distance from ear to ear. The tape should extend just in front of your ears on both sides.
Step 3: Measure Front to Back
Starting at the front hairline, guide the measuring tape over the middle of your head and down to your nape. Refer to our "How to Measure for a Wig" video for tips on locating the front hairline and nape, especially if no hair is present.
Understanding the Ellen Wille Sizing Chart:
After recording your three measurements, consult the Ellen Wille sizing chart to determine your category for each measurement (Circumference, Ear-to-Ear, Front-to-Back). Note: If your measurements fall into different sizing categories, opt for the largest size among the three.
Ellen Wille Wig Cap Sizes:
While the standard wig size is petite/average, most of our wig cap designs offer enough stretch to accommodate up to an average/large size. Cap designs such as 100% Hand Tied, Open Wefted, and Enclosed Wefted allow for this flexibility.
Ellen Wille also provides Large and Petite styles, denoted by "Small" or "Large" in the style name. For instance, "Elite Small" or "Tempo Large".
